Transmutation
For this collaborative meal-performance, 3307 director Amanda Martin Katz gave the chef duo TABLE | TABLE a three stanza poem, which they translated into a three-course meal. The sections of the poem were served on translucent placemats along with each dish.
ABOUT TABLE | TABLE
Carla and Hannah met on a food truck in 2014, and their collaborative approach to food and hospitality has continued to flourish since. Their combined histories in painting, performance, installation and set-design set the tone for a flurry of activity and a multi-disciplinary approach to the experience of making, eating and sharing food. The duo approach cooking with heart & soul, naturally fostering a collaborative network of artists, farmers and food-lovers.
HANNAH BLACK Born and raised in Alabama, Hannah’s roots provide the groundwork to her warm aesthetic by accentuating the essence of southern comfort—which is omnipresent in both her food and aura. After working for Mission Chinese in NYC and Hartwood in Tulum, Mexico, Hannah moved to Hudson, NY. Fueled by adrenaline and a desire to provide, Hannah brings the essence of hospitality to TABLE | TABLE.
CARLA PEREZ-GALLARDO Raised in the light of a glowing kitchen of strong women in the heart of Queens, NY, Carla brings fire and flavor to TABLE | TABLE. Her Ecuadorian and Argentinean background inform her desire to make bold dishes that simultaneously comfort and excite. After studying studio arts – with a focus in installation and performance – she has continued similar explorations in food. She is interested in everything juicy, full and communal.
